Default Cam belt tension question

Does the position of the cam matter on how tight the belt is? By this I mean if the marks are all lined up, or if the gear is not lined up with all the marks, will the tension on the belt still read the same in both positions?

Thanks
Mike

IIRC, when I did the cam belt, the cam twisted maybe 1 degree from the extra tension while tensioning it, but was well within spec. The balance shaft belt got so out of whack when I tensioned it that I had to take it off and start over, compensating by a tooth on the uppers and lowers for where I thought it would end up when tensioned, and I ended up getting it right the second time. Good luck with it.

Don't forget to rotate the crank 2 full turns ..... or 1 camshaft turn and go 1.5 teeth pass the mark and then back ...

Then check your tension.

The tension does not matter where on the rotation you take it (as you say marks not aligned)....but the procedure of rotating the engine twice still applies in determining tension.
