Exclamation Blinking oil light

1987 924 when running the oil warning light blinks at a fixed rate but the oil gauge shows good steady oil pressure! is the oil sending unit a dual sender? where on the engine is it?

Yes, 2 circuits gauge and warning light. It's down on the oil filter housing.

Your car has not just the oil pressure sender on the oil cooler/filter console, but also an oil level sender in the oil pan (rt. side of sump). When you're light blinks like that it's because your oil level is too low. This assumes a properly functioning level sender, of course. A sender with a stuck float would be trigger a false LOW condition. See picture below (oil level sensor is circled in red).
