A Barris replica! Sweet...that's the one! Original Futura Batmobile is the only style as far as I'm concerned!

I'd rather have a Mach 5.

I like the trying-to-be-modern rectangle headlights! Very '70's Caddy!

It would have to have the cocaine option to get anywhere near $30K out here.

Ah, the Mach 5. I always thought Phone Dials were modeled after the Mach 5's rims! To me, a white 944 w/ PD's very closely resembles the Mach 5! And you don't have to ruin a perfectly good old Vette!

Ha! Cocain option! That was for the owner of the company apparently!

When the DMC was in the planning stages, Delorean went to a bunch of governments and set up shop in ireland because they offered him the best deal. the rubber weatherstriping around the doors was supposed to be one piece. the workers were so poorly trained, and so unskilled they cut the rubber into something like six pieces and glued it to the body.

then customers complained the car leaked. there was no QC to see it was done wrong.

the car was not designed for function, but for deloreans ego. he liked the 300SL and the Bricklin SV1 so the car had to have gullwing doors. notice how the car resembles a SV1 (which didnt come with an ashtray).

Trivia - what does SV1 stand for, and where did bricklin get his start, and end up doing?

back to the stupid doors. stupid, yes because of the weight it added. dont forget he had colin chapman of lotus design the frame. the same colin chapman that would remove a rivet from his lotus if it could save a gram.

should we go on to the motor, and the motor it was originally designed to have, but somehow it ended up with what was it the renault motor.

i wont go into the underpowered air conditioning in a car without real windows and a black interior.

the great delorean cost almost as much as a 911 but had RX7 performance. oh yeah, delorean had an RX7 when the car was being designed and used that as a benchmark for many things.

sorry red. the car just doesnt cut it.

Man if I had the money I'd buy the delorean just for the great kicks. I'd dress up as doc and drive around town, yelling at people about time travel and stuff.

But Tom,

You could fry an egg on the no-stick hood on a hot day and good old John Z. would provide the blow to enjoy your 80's experience!

I remember when they came out my neighbor bought one and had it painted red, looked much better!

One of my favorite movies, even the sequels were entertaining. With this car, you'd never see yourself! The car museums in Gatlinburg need to see this.

I rode in one of those once when I was like 8. The 85-mph speedo didn't bode well for performance.
