If you look at the photo of the back (with the hatch open), you see that the interior color is tan. Must be strange lighting on the interior pics.

I'm not a fan of a tan and white combo...but that is one sweet car, if you like that sorta thing. To me (non-collector), spending all that money on that car means you would never drive it. Otherwise, you buy it, change the rubber, etc, and start driving it...and it gets...you ready...dirty! And used looking! And rock chips. Then, you have an '83 944 with low miles. Not much of an investment at $20k!

But, if you were the type that wants to buy a 944 that is virtually "new", and can spend the money...you'd be getting a great example!

The buyer is going to have a LOT of work ahead of them. Porsche, and most car do very poorly just sitting around. Most things rubber are going to be iffy. The seals are going to likely leak badly once driven. Interesting though.

I too thought a very low mileage car would be easy, but no way. I bought my '86 951 with 13K miles on it. I've had to replace most of the seals, and rubber. Grease hardens, oil breaks down,. Yes there is no corrosion or dings, but there is no free lunch. It will likely be bought up for someones collection, or by some remembers the car when it was new and wants to relive that time.

That thing is gorgeous, but I wouldn't buy it because I would want to drive it every other day so I could switch between the black one and the white one. And because the saturn is in the garage and a 944 that beautiful doesn't belong sitting on the street.

Guys a car like that is not good driver candiate. It will take a 1 to 2k just to bring it back to driving condition. It has been sitting for a very LONG time. This is NOT good for cars.

The purpose for this car is for shows. If you WANT a car for winning concour shows and possible Parade concour this a car for you. The next owner shoud drive it 200 miles and then park it and show it. If it really goes for $15k then all it value will be lost in driving it.

At the point its greatest value is on the show car scene. Buy it show it a few times including parade and then store for 20 more years. Bring it out as 40 year old car with less than 5000 miles and look at all the ooh's and aah's 20 years from now. That is life this car is destined for. It NOT the kind of car to go some young kid to be driven.

My 84 daily driver was concour condition car that looked much the same as this one. It has 78k on it now. To the untrained observer both cars are much the same, but this one has less miles. I came to the conclusion that no mater how Nice my 84 was it could NEVER be what this car is due to the miles. No mater how nice. I could attempt to restore it to take for m 95% perfect to 99% or 100%, but that would cost and lose the orginallity factor. I decided just to drive it as any resotoration would be wased money on a dead common 84 944. My turbo S might one day be worth something so better to spend resto dollars there. This car is unique and has value and show appeal due to the low miles and assumed orginality. Once miles are put on it is apperent value and specialness is lost.

I some strange way $15k is cheap for a Show car that will gather attention. At Parade I'd be more interested in this car than looking at GT3. Sure the GT3 is MUCH better driver, but just about ANYONE can BUY a GT3 and have it look nice. Finding 20 year old 84 like this is RARE. In fact since so many are beat being able to display a pristine original example such as this something most guys can't do. If you want that 15k is cheap. Imagine a time capusle (same miles and condition) 911 from 84! It will cost more and be less impressive since they are more common. You want really rare... Timecapsule 78 924!

For 15k there are a lot of much better cars to drive then any 944.

The dried rubber issue is a bit overreactive. my brother put about 100k in the last three years on his 84 NA that had 34k three years ago when he bought it, and hasn't had the rubber issues everyone is so afraid of.

For 8k i would buy it and drive it for a few years. in three years i would sell it for 7k with with 30k on it. for 10k i would buy another mullet.

Wow. That car hasn't even been through a full tank of gas every year! It's interesting to hear that the right side motor mount fails even when the car isn't driven. I guess it's more the age than the heat that gets 'em.

let me tell you, driving that car would be just like driving a new 944. take it from the owner of a time capsule - the 944 is no slouch! doesn't look like that one has the handling package mine does though... so who knows. thats pretty low mileage, too low for everything to be in decent shape. in 98 i got an 83 with 18k, and have put 6k on it since, with NO problems whatsoever. it's kind of a fine line... if something were to go on the 83 everything would be replaced, but it seems to have been driven enough to prevent the seals from rotting. all the rubber in it is in fine shape, as is the dashboard and leather. i only wish that the previous owners had taken better care to not let it get dinged as much as it has.

about that interior - i'm not a big fan, unless the car is some shade of grey or silver, or tan or brown. i have it in my grey car, and it's grown on me. it looks ABSOLUTELY hideous in a red car. i saw one once... not pretty! it is a nice car, but for any time capsule i'd hesitate to go over about 12k... even for a concours car like that.
