In actuality on a stock car you are pissing away money on 93 oct. fuel. Run the minimum recommended by the factory.

TonD, Don't feel bad, our government take 40% of our money even if we don't buy gas so that they can blow up other countries and then pay their friends to rebuild.
No guns here, legaly that is. Even though we've had a few "Columbine"-like incidents lately Well...for now I just have to live with it I guess...no plans to leave this tiny little cheese country as I'm in university (college, high school, whatever you guys call it, lol) now...

BTW, on the other hand...we don't have them ugly bumpers and side-blinkers over here

Anywhere from 1.90 to 2.03$ here in St.Petersburg. My car hasn't been driven since I just recieved my parts today so I'll plan on paying for gas again....

A few weeks ago I almost bought a 98 jetta tdi for 50mpg....But I figured if i'm going to have the car for years to come (diesels run forever), I might as well get the exact car I want. 2002-03 Golf TDI, monsoon 10 speaker sound, all options, blah blah blah. So, I'm waiting until winter to buy a better car....after that I'm done buying german cars for a while...........................................................I swear...........................
....................................................................seri ously.

mikec - I am contemplating buying a TDI Golf for the same reason. 50MPG and diesel fuel is much cheaper here.

Really? When I was there in '99 and again in '00, I asked a few people, namely the hotel owners and taxi drivers (hmmmm, perhaps that is where I went wrong!) about it and they said a person needed a permit and had to go through a bit to get one, but guns were legal...guess I heard wrong!

Oh yeah, here in Rome, 45 miles north of Atlanta, it depends on the gas station and brand. Kroger has it at $1.66 for 87 ($1.63 if you have a kroger card and I do tee-hee!), BP right across the road has it at $1.67 for 87, the new Wal-Mart/Murphys has it for $1.56 (its a grand opening) and the good stuff, Chevron, is $1.71 for 87...I buy at whichever one is closest...

My views on diesels have changed now that I know a lot more about them. I'm going with the VW TDI because of fuel economy. But, I know plenty of people with 1983 84 85 Mercedes Turbo D's with 300, 400, and 500,000 miles. That Mercedes 5 cylinder engine also holds Guiness Book records for over 1 million miles on the original engine....and a couple of cars have done it. However, their mpg is not as good as vw tdi's.
Diesels are great everyday commuter cars. The Porsche's are the weekend toys.
