OT: ? for an attorney

OT: ? for an attorney
Quick question...
The company I work for has been bought out by a major financial institution. As part of moving over to the new employer, we must undergo a fingerprinting process and background checks. I have a form to fill out that asks to disclose any convictions or guilty pleas for "any offense other than a minor traffic violation"
1. What is considered a minor traffic violation? (speeding I know)
2. I once paid a fine for a misdemeanor "improper display of tag" (or something like that) Should I disclose this? or would this also be considered a minor traffic violation?
Thanks!

Well I know its against the law not to disclose any information if you've been convicted of felonies or crimes of that nature.
I wouldn't worry about it.

I dont think you need to worry about anything like that, they are looking for felonies when they do this things. Every company i have worked for have done the same, some even do a credit report (purchasing position)

I say if in doubt, ask (them). They aren't going to care about a conviction like that, so it's no big deal if they know about it. Or for that matter, you could just list it & not worry about it.

I would say it falls under a minor traffic conviction. A good rule of thumb with that sort of thing is if it was handled by civil traffic court or criminal court. If it was just civil traffic then don't worry about disclosing it.
Nope, not a lawyer, but I love fighting traffic tickets tooth and nail when I do get one. (Seem to be pretty good at avoiding them in the first place thankfully).

As a lawyer I can tell you that what someone considers a "minor traffic violation" is subjective. It's like ****...you know it when you see it and everyone sees it differently.
(Legal disclaimer: I am not licensed in GA and cannot and will not give you any opinion or advice on GA law. (Although my first wife was from Roswell, we were divorced in LA.))
If you asked me this question in LA or MS, I would say that I agree with the answers you've already received. Personally, I would consider a non-moving violation to be a minor traffic violation, along with simple speeding, running a stop sign and such. However, if you received a ticket for reckless driving along with the speeding ticket, you are probably getting out of the minor violation range. I would also consider any ticket you received for an accident where someone was hurt and, of course, DWI. to be outside of minor.
Now when you're asked about the cow tipping incident, that's a different matter!

Aribop,
I think that they are asking for "criminal" convictions or guilty pleas ... therefore, my humble opinion says that minor traffic violations are not needed in the application.

Same caveat as Mouthpiece as I'm only licensed in IL and FL, but some traffic violations ARE misdemeanors. In IL a DUI and DWLS/R are misdemeanors and would have to be reported if they asked. Most places only ask for felonies, but you used the term misdemeanor when addressing your ticket. Improper display is an ordinance violation in IL, but it may be a MM in GA. You'd better check. If not, I'd err on the side of caution and disclose. You'll get fired faster for lying than for not displaying the tag on your car, IMHO.

Here I was asked to disclose misdemeanors as well. Not knowing I didnt tell them about noise ordinace violations or a DUI I got 10 years ago. I just got done spending nearly 8 months trying to explain why on earth I felt the need to play my car stereo so loud at 17 years old and why I had one too many one saturday night when I was 21. I suppose they thought my hearing loss from my Boomin system might affect my sales job.
I would say if you broke wind in church with-in the last oh, say, 40 years of your life I would be sure to put that down as well just for good measure.
