Due to the incliment weather in your area yesterday I thought it would be nice to check in. I was in the air (7 hours from OKC which is as short as a 1 hr 20 min flight), I even got to stop in Peoria.

Oddly, I was telling my Japanese colleauge that this time of year in Oklahoma is tornado season, then it happens up here! Who would have thought.

She said it went well. Our MVS got a store on Monday. I'm still lovin it. I've met quite a few "characters" in some of the training classes..LOL

I cant wait to go to Chicago for the Store Managers classes, that will be a hoot.

 

When are you scheduled? Remind me when you are coming and I will take you out at least one night. It is only about 15 mins. from where I am staying now. It is always good to be from a store where people are getting promoted, it looks good.

I really like that store, I've gone to help a couple of others that needed some coverage, boy some of the other stores are a little "disorganized" . At least I know what it should look like, so I can change one when I get to run a shop.

 

Hell, by November I will be in the house but I can stop by after work, it is not that far from the office.

I was just talking to my mom and she said a tornado came pretty close, in Joliet. Collapsed the roof of a Walgreens. I'm pretty sure the worst storms were a little east of Michelle, but I'm not 100% sure.

 

Utica which is not that far from Ottawa. Appeared an F-3 or better (hard to tell due to old construction).

Thanx for your concern guys. Actually, the 4 people killed were in a small town about 7 miles west of me. It was pretty hairy last night. Fortunately, none of the tornados struck Ottawa. There were a few spotted, but they skipped around us. Literally north, south, east, and west of us. I was sorry to hear about the damage and loss of life in Utica. It is right on the western edge of Starved Rock and is a cute, historical area that is frequented often by Chicogoans on the weekends. I was actually going to see about a Starved Rock GTG sometime this summer with a stop at the tavern there. Maybe Duffy's is still there. It is hard to comprehend the useless loss of life a storm like this can wreak. There was little to no warning and I am truly sorry for the families and loved ones affected by this. Thank you all for your concern on my behalf.

 

But of course, that is what family does.

As to warning, there is virtually never warning for a tornado. I drove through Jarrell, TX about 10 mins after the F5 a few years ago. It had torn the asphalt off of I35, it turned a neighborhood into a pasture, actually removing slab from the ground. Absolutely incredible. 15 mins faster and I would have likely been killed. The power of a tornado is simply amazing.
