1989 Turbo S on ebay
Anyone see this listing?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW
I was out at the dealership last night and saw the car in person. It's absolutely beautiful! Interior is basically perfect. No dash cracks, seats look like they've never been sat in. Exterior is pretty nice too. A couple stone chips on the nose, but that's about it.
Anyone here bidding on this? It looks like a great car, but I can't imagine they're going to get $27990 for it. The sales guy told me it would be at Hershey on Saturday, so if anyone is interested, you can see it there.

What would YOU pay?
Before I talked to the salesguy, my husband and I were placing bets on how much they were asking. I didn't realize it was an S, so I said $14k. My husband guessed low $20s. We were both WAY off, although now I think his guess is more on par with what the car may be worth. It will be interesting to see if they find a buyer and what it goes for.

Manual sunroof? I don't think that is original. I also don't see the rear shlf speakers (or the rear shelf) in the pictures. Looks pretty good, though, and a rare colour combination. It would fetch well over US$14K around here. More like US$20k.

nice car, but it's not a turbo S. it is turbo S spec, but still only a 951. 88 in 88 they had both turbo and turbo S, and in 89 all turbos they made were the turbo S spec from the previous year. i think its probably worth about 18-20. i dont like red though... my first choice would be zermatt or stone grey.

I didn't get the "manual sunroof" thing either. From what I could tell, looking in the window, it looked like every other 944 sunroof I've ever seen.
I'm not sure why the dealer told me it was an S model. It doesn't say that in the ebay listing, so maybe the guy I was talking to wasn't as familiar with the car as he made out to be.
It IS my favorite color combo, and a very beautiful example at that, but I don't think I'd buy this one over the one I have now. At least not for what they're asking!

If the vehicle was "selling" for $28k on their lot, they wouldn't have a reason to list it on EBay. lol.
Asking and selling are 2 very different things. Personally, I think that's about $10,000 more than it's worth. Oh well...a fool and his money are soon parted, right?

Maybe they say "manual" sunroof, because you have to manually remove it, as opposed to pushing a buttton and having it slide into the roof, etc?
Still, for that money I would much rather have a nice 968 with red interior!

AndyK, you could be right about the sunroof. He did mention something about being able to totally take it out (and I was thinking, "how is that different from any other 944 sunroof"?).
The dealer said that he'd been trying to buy this car from the owner for over two years. The first time, they sent him a check and he sent it back. This year, he finally went through with the sale. I wonder if they gave him anywhere near to what they're asking for the car. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see what happens.
