Default Trans Code Question

I know trans main identification codes are on the top of the trans bellhousing. I want to know do these side numbers change at all if they are for a na,s,s2 or turbo trans? Refering to the 016301211F number. Thank again.

Looks like they pretty much all have that from what I am finding. Just making sure as I hunt down a mirror to see the top code.

My code was right by the top of the transmission, near the bellhousing, and was stamped into it. Mine is an 016 transmission. Yours should have a similar number. It should be right above the long flat portion that kinda swoops up into the bellhousing flange. HTH some.

Clark's Garage has a whole section on transmissions and their appropriate codes, very well detailed !

Yes, the casting numbers do change afaik for NA versus S/2/T transmissions. You can also sometimes find a large letter painted on the end plate (steel center section in your photo) that indicates the version of the rear pinion shaft bearing for which it was machined.
