Mirror adjuster thingy
I looked at my door and the mirror joystick thing had disappeared - just an empty hole left. First thought that went through my mind was: ahh man, I have to head to the mech so he can fish it out from inside the door. But being the determined individual (who happened to notice 2 screws holding the cover with the mirror joystick and window controls in place) I decided to take it appart and look into it myself. I was happy to see wires apparently connecting to the joystick, and after a bit of prying and twisting with a Bic pen I fished up the mirror controller, hooked everything back in place and closed it.
Big deal huh? Well, I am very proud of myself! And it took me only 2 minutes tops!!

Oh man it did! Put the window down about 2 inches and clunk! there goes the mirror thing again. It got pulled right back into the door!
So what am I doing wrong? I noticied that the wires from the various controls all lead to this little plastic junction box. Is the window catching on that and pulling the controls out or what?

Oh, BTW, now your hooked. Your going to start finding more and more things on the car you want to disassemble and 'fix'...even if they don't need it. We are all a bunch of fixit junkies. We will keep chasing that feeling of accomplishment and tackle larger and larger projects.

yeah just bend thse wires into as much of a L shape as possible. so that they clear the window. its not hard. all you need to do is remove those 2 screws then push the bundle down and hold the adjuster in place... should be good to go like that. its a close fit thats for sure.

Next up is getting my filter element outta the box and cleaning that. I've done it before on other cars, but there are all sorts of screws like in places you can't get to on the 944, so I'm a bit stumped.
Oh btw I managed to bend the wires and tuck it in so it doesn't catch. So now the window opens and the joystick stays in place.
