Sorry to hear it James but you're O.K. and that's what really counts. This is why I don't ride motorcycles.... At least in this situation, there is no question about who's at fault. I hope the offender was insured. Pretty amazing that the hatch is intact.

I was surprised about the glass too. See the photo. The glass separated from the frame in several locations, but did not break.

On second thought, good thing you were driving the Porsche and not a small econo car!

I am having a serious discussion with the wife right now. I want another Porsche, but I am married with kids and need to think about that now. I am looking at a BMW 7 series now. BUt DAMN! I want my car back!! I want another 951. One of my friends said they might try to find a comparable car and replace it. I said "Fine! You find me a 1 owner car, no wrecks, all service records back to it's first oil change at 500 miles and I will be happy to have that car." It was agreed this would be difficult. SO, I may have to get another fat car to protect myself from ATL drivers.

Glad to hear no one was seriously injured. Get yourself some proper rehab for your neck and body, a 34-40mph whiplash injury is DEVESTATING to a person's body, just remember that medicine covers up the pain, but doesn't cure the underlying problem. I would go see a chiropractor and a physical therapist, or all in one if possible. Good luck, sorry to hear about your car

Good to hear you are ok without anything to bad. I was in an accident something like yours I had to stop cause someone pulled out front of me then the person behind me on pills that shouldn't be driving ran right into my car going about 35mph but I didn't have anyone that close to me to hit in front or my car would have been totalled. It was fixed at the dealer and it's better then ever but the bill was around 4500$ just the rear end being fixed but the front wasn't touched. I didn't get injured and to tell you the truth I thought I was lightly touched by the lady behind me until I looked in the mirroR and tried to pull over off the road.

It's great that you're around to joke about it. That car took a serious lick. There's no doubt that it will be a total loss. The first thought I had seeing the pictures was that the hatch was in one piece and the passenger compartment is still intact. The more wrecked 944's I see the more I think that they may be one of the safest cars on the road.
Glad you're ok. Get a good personal injury lawyer and you may end up with a GT3.

I saw a 993 in the Rennlist Classifieds that has caught my eye. We'll see....

Another 944 to the yard. Gone But never forgotten..... Hell Some of its parts may now end up in our cars some day and help them to live happy.......
Glad you were able to walk away.

I know my first reaction upon a sudden stop is to look in the rear view mirror to see who is coming. I do it all the time, but I have heard the twist in the neck makes the neck injury worse. Glad you are somewhat ok, or at least not in the hospital. Get well and worry about the car later. 944S Boyee said he got an awesome appraisal from Porsche Cars North America. I guess they put a high price on their products living and dead!

I had stopped at a pedestrian crossing to allow folks to cross and was watching the most GORGEOUS female walk past me on the pavement. Tiny micro mini skirt see through blouse - historic - as she passed along the pavement behind me I checked the mirror to see her rear end and saw this guy coming up that was SO taken with her that he slammed straight in the back of my car. Both of us were rep's so we sorted it out between us and decided the accident had happened at 6 p.m. (Niether of us should have been where we were at that time of day and no one was injured).
See what trouble the ladies cause us poor men.
