Question leaking clutch slave cylinder

The clutch slave cylinder on my 86' 944 has a slow leak. I replaced it about 4 months ago, but it still drips a little down on the pedals. Every 3-4 weeks I've been having to add fluid. I've been using cheap brake fluid. Any chance switching to a premium fluid might stop the leak or should I just pull the cylinder out again?

Thanks

Chris

It's your Clutch Master cylinder that's leaking and you should change the slave also while you are in there. This is a very common thing with the 944. I've done both of my cars in the last 6 months..the second time only took me about an 1-1/2 hours total. Follow Pete's link above...it's really fairly easy with a pressure bleeder and the Clarks-Garage write-up.

Good Luck

Changed them before you walk uot to the car one day and have the pedal go straight to the floor. Don't ask how I know.

Thanks,

I replace both clutch cylinders last fall with new parts. I must have gotten a bad one.

Time to get the pressure bleeder out again.

Are you sure it's coming from the cylinder itself and not a connection? Bad new cylinders are rare.

Check you clutch pedal for looseness or excessive movement where it actuates the cylinder. Might be making an oval out of the seals.

Thanks,

I'll definitely check the connection.
