Bad DME Relay?

Bad DME Relay?
I need help with my new 86 square dash NA 944!
It's not starting very well. Turn the key and the engine does not turn over at all. Usually it will eventually turn over and it starts right up but it seems to be getting worse and worse.
Sounds like it could be the DME relay? If the relay fails does that mean the car will not start at all or does it tend to fail slowly?!
Could it be something else? I'm going to get a new relay anyway because I've heard it's good to have a spare.
Any other tips for a new Porsche owner?
No one asked to see her but isn't she lovely?!

Check your battery connections to the starter and to ground. Make sure that they are metal to metal, with no corrosion nearby. Also, the cables have a nasty habit of breaking inside the insulation, which you cannot see.

correct, If the DME (or fuel pump) relay is removed or broken, fuel will not reach the cylinders. The fact that it starts proves that it is not the relay. I removed mine not too long ago so I could do a compression test.

86 square dash NA 944?
That's a beautiful car! The color and wheels make it a real stand-out! CONGRATS! I have not seen early dash in an 86??
Agree that this is not DME. Good to keep a spare in the car tho. Battery to starter and ground cables is a good start(pun intended). Possible that crankshaft and/or TDC flywheel sensors and or wiring could be culprit. Does the tach bounce while you crank it? Clarks is also good resource for troubleshooting help.
Good luck!
PS more pics would be great!
Cheers
