Distributors-Bosch vs. Bremi
I am going to install a new distributor cap and, on fpc, there is around a $25 difference between the OEM Bosch and OEM Bremi. My question is, have any of you had any experience with Bremi, if so how was it, is it quality or crap. The car is a 1984 944 by the way.
Thanks for your help

I have a Bremi distributor on one of mine. It was fitted by a po when I bought the car and it’s been working fine for the last two+ years.
Bosch is what you get from Porsche, Bremi wasn’t OEM for the 944 but maybe it was for other Porsche models.
Personally if I was keeping the car I’d fit Bosch and if I was selling it Bremi.

Alright I guess I will bite the bullet and get the Bosch cap. I am planning on keeping this car for a while (full restoration). I attached the state of my rotor and cap. I do not know how the car was even running!

Wow, I agree it's amazing the car was running with that rotor. I appreciate you asking this question because I was wondering the same thing recently. I would up getting a Bosch cap and Bosch rotor, also from FCP. I wasn't able to find anything negative about the non-Bosch options, but Bosch is typically the benchmark of quality and decided to "play it safe" since the difference in absolute price was small. Additionally, I didn't mind paying a bit more for the Bosch stuff since with FCP you only pay for the parts once and can get a new cap & rotor ever year if you want for zero additional dollars. So, you can justify paying a bit more for the initial purchase if you average the additional cost over the amount of times you think you might replace it (for free) with their warranty program.

Yes, I've used their warranty. The way it works is you first purchase a replacement for the old part and that purchase price is refunded 100% after they receive the old part - which you must somehow return. So you do have to ship it back with a RMA which you can generate from the website. I live nearby their facility so it's fun and easy for me to drive over and drop-off.
The warranty even applies to consumables like oil and oil filters. People drain the previously purchased oil into the old jug and ship it back along with the old filter and drain plug. As long as the return shipping is less than the cost of the materials then it's worthwhile.
