Default Window Molding???

I am in the process of re-placing the outside lower rubber molding on both the drivers and passenager side windows. Once I removed the molding, I found it exteremly difficult to install the new molding in the metal trim surrounding the window.

Any tricks or techinques for installing the new rubber window molding? I removed the metal trim piece from the door and tried installing the molding on the trim but found the molding would still not "lock" into the trim???

Appreciate any suggestions!!

Can't think of the configuration, but .. tried using a wire around the inside of the rubber and pulling it out to get the molding to fit? It's common practice, I'm sure there are a whole lot of window molding write-ups with a google search.
