tcm, yeah, I have never had any rub.....

However, I've since sold those rims and what I have sitting in the garage now are 7 and 9.5x17" cup rims. I haven't installed them yet so I don't know if they will rub. On the Boxster rims, I had to have 1/8" spacers up front.

If they do rub, what should I get to remedy it Skip? I assume some sort of spacer...

Can your shock adjustment be "backed off"? 13mm= almost a half inch which would put you just about right.

Can this even be done?
Are you talking about adjusting the rear height or the front. The rear will adjust between 1/2" and 3/4" very easily and more if you reindex the torsion bars (very hard).

The only height adjustment I've heard of on the front is on the M030 suspension. That would be able to adjust way more than 1/2". Can you find in the manual where it talks about the 13mm? I would like to drop my stock car a bit if it's possible.

Dont' have the manuals here with me. Under chassis/suspension I believe they mention a adjustment "ring" on the shock. Really just to level out left to right ride height.

They (typically) did not go into much further detail.

Are we missing something here. Could the bushings just be really worn or deteriorated causing the extra low setup?
What about tire size?

I think that might be what Skip was leading to. Either worn or missing bushings/washer/spacer. Skip can you clarify?

I run 225x50x16 front.

I ordered a set of Konis from Paragon a year ago and have not put them in yet because I am scared that I am going to have the negative clearence too. I am hoping to get a free weekend soon to find out.

After I installed the rear Konis I developed a clunk on the drivers side, has any one else had that problem, Skip?

Isn't clunk=cv joint?

Are koni's adjustable both up and down to an extent?

It is not a cv joint clunk. It sounds like the top of the shock is able to move on the bolt. Maybe the sleeve that the bolt goes through is the wrong size? I have not gotten back under the car to see if I could tell yet, hopefully I will have a chance to do the fronts soon and will check out the rear at the same time.

Clunks can be several things, if it happened when the shocks were changed, they might have something loose. We need more details on when it clunks. CV joint is one possiblity. (check your cubbies)

Typically, when you think of Koni adjustables, they are talking about adjusting the dampening, not height. The only Konis that I know of that are height adjustable are the M030s front struts that I have. They are easily identified by the threaded body.

BillyW.
Did you order just the shocks or some springs too? Shocks by themselves won't lower the car, (exception noted above). Gas charged shocks might raise the car slightly.

If you think the top is loose, disconnect the bottom and see if you can move the shock up and down on the top mount.

I am going to check out the top mount on the rear shock next time I have the car in the air. The clunk is only when I go over bumps on the drivers side. It started with the install of the rear shocks.
For the front I ordered the koni inserts and 250 lb weltmisters.
I dropped back to stock size tires to help avoid rubbing on the fronts, with 225/50s I rubbed paint off the fender lip when I would auto-x or spirited street drives.

I have the 200# on my car as well - and yep, it's low. It actually rides better than the OEM springs. I found I needed to set the Konis a lot stiffer to keep it from scraping - but it does corner amazingly well, the ride is still pretty good and it looks extremely sexy.

My '89 S2 has the M030 front struts, and now has M030 (25.5mm) rear torsion bars. It measures 24 1/4" from fender to pavement (through the axle line), and 12 5/8" from wheel center to fender lip. It was set-up by a top race/auto-x shop So I believe it to be optimal in front.
We just added the rear torsion bars, and I'm not quite sure that it's low enough, its appx 24 1/4" from fender lip to pavement as well (it's probably just right), -which seems to be about 12 1/2" from fender lip to wheel center. Wheels are stock D90's w/ 225/50/16s and 245/45/16 tires.

Try this for now: http://www.tech-session.com/kb/index...x_v2&id=54&c=4

I moved all of the tech articles but haven't updated all of the links. Moving to a whole new site soon so it'll work itself out.

My apologies for the inconvenience.
