Pfarah, thats a nice offer BUT the car is a a 1986 automatic Porsche 944

Plyhammer (near Dayton OH) has your Auto trans for $350 and the swap is pretty easy. You made out like a bandit!

I appreciate the link! $350 is a very low price It! It sounds like the car is being delivered tomorrow at the dealership I work at. Once my guy digs in and diagnosis the problem Ill let yall know. 🤞

Understood, the manual rubber centered disk can be used in the automatic transaxle.

Please explain. I thought the 944 had a traditional torque converter, nothing on it looks anything like the early rubber centered (prone to failure) clutch disk.

According to Steve at 944Online, they can be used in the automatic transaxle. I was ready to toss mine in the trash when performing the clutch job and he (and others more knowledgeable than me) suggested that I hold on to the disk and plate for someone who has an auto car. There are threads that explain this retrofit in this (and other) forums.

Drilling new holes into the flywheel for postion sensors (about 4:00 in) is probably way beyond our OP's plan but it's cool to know it can be done!

Typical Youtube hacks.
So many of these poor, wonderful cars have endured so much of this nonsense.

I would have expected Ian to know the difference. Perhaps he does now, 12 years later.

Regardless, it's still available to anyone who wants it...
