I'm asking because I think as a group they look much better than what I have.
Any reason why they wouldn't function properly in an 84?

There may have been other years, but in 1980 the Fed's mandated that all new cars have 85 mph max speedo's. I know because I had a brand new Corvette that year with the 85 mph limit. Buried that spedo many a time.
