I take it you suggest venting the fenders instead of the hood to keep water from directly entering the engine bay?

if I were to vent the hood, is there a suggestion for keeping water incursion to a minimum? Re that, T&T Racing, should I place the louvres toward the sides over the shock towers, perhaps to keep more water off the top of the motor? Car is both street and track driven. And, I live in a hot area

This is probably the reason that the Ferraris and Maseratis of the 60's ran a fender opening on their racing cars..also to dump the air built up in the fender wells...and reduce drag. just sayin. The Testa Rossa cars come to mind.

"secondary question is what temp does your fan come on?"

I've got the fan set to turn on at 200, off at 180. I may eventually change to 180/165, but don't currently see the need to do that yet unless other cooling upgrades fail. Mostly, I've only driven the car lightly and for short distances to this point because the PO detailed overheating issues. Trying to add as much cooling before I push it hard.

Default How much hotter?

How much hotter?
Just wondering how much hotter are under hood temps than with the original turbo motor? Look at all the under hood temp and air flow management Porsche did! Routing cold air from low pressure area under fender to intake:; water cooling the turbo; air cooling the alertnator; managing air flow thru the nose for intercooler, radiator, A/C condenser; Air defectors for brake cooling. Shields everywhere to protect from those high temps. Does that relatively mild tuned V8 even really run hotter than the Turbo?
Just wondering...
