Default AIR splitter issues

Has anyone had problems mounting the AIR splitter?

I mounted mine yesterday but had a problem with the fit. It didn't really follow the countour of the ftnt bumper very well. It was easily close enough and you really can't tell unless you look closely.

I doubt it affects the performance but I bever heard it mentioned before.

Oh, yeah, Pictures: (Oil spot is not mine)

you might want to clean up your car a little before you take pics next time...

Looks good.

On-topic...
My fit was a little tough too, but with a little time, an extra set of hands (almost required), and some small adjustments by sliding the splitter back and forth across the front of the car it fit pretty good.

How did you do your? Drill holes through the bottom of the splitter, or take off the bumper cover? Those are the only 2 methods I know of to mounting a splitter like the AIR.

Did you test fit before the final install? Mine mounted pretty clean, but I had to oval a few of the mounting locations to make it fit perfect.

I don't have cloe-ups yet but the issue is with the fitment under the very front of the car. It didn't fit flush enough against the mounting tabs on the bumper. I feel that some air will be allowed to flow between the bumper and the splitter and don't know if there could be a problem.

I don't track the car so I hope 70-80 speeds will be OK.

I did. we test fit with the bumper off the car and then mounted it with the bumper on the car.

We found that the crease in the splitter that is supposed to mate with the bottom of the bumper didn't follow the countour that well. I ended up having to mate it to the flat part of the splitter just forward of that crease.

Am I making sense?

Huh.. upon closer inspection... that splitter looks more GT racing than the Air?? How strange.

So it won't mount flush in the middle? Can you tell if it is warped? Is there extra material keeping it from being flush?

This is what it looks like off the car. I wasnt' warped or anything. Nice and flat. My car is good too. I don't hink that it's going to be that big of a deal.

Your car looks sweet streckfu. Black is such a killer colour.

Question: where did you get that splitter thing?

I bought used from someone turning their car into a track only car. He replaced the front bumper with a fiberglass piece.

The can be bought from American International Racing or GT Racing .

I want a black 951! ! !...I agree with Perry- the whole car pictures at the top make it look like a GTRacing splitter...
Both my splitters have fit very well, The AIR piece I never drilled holes in the bottom to mount, the recent GTracing part got holes drilled through the bottom.

edited: pics threw me off at work, its gt racing.

If either of those are AIR pieces then the company has changed the splitter at some point in time. I just received mine this week and painted and installed it, and it doesn't look like either the one on Streckfu's car, or the pic of the one on the floor. There are differences where the splitter rides along the side of the bumper, and the flat area in the back extends further. If I had a digital camera I would post pics. Mine is like Brian Perry's, i.e. it extends in a straight line from the corner of the bumper forward.
