Post More stuff happening - solved

Well two things today: the front windshield seal got loose around the top and was flapping around on the highway. Was making a whirling noise that scared the CRAP out of me. I just sorta temporarily pushed it back in when I got home.

I also have a very loud knocking/whacking/rattling type noise, which I really have no clue as to where it's coming from now. At first i thought it was the back, but now I'm totally unsure. When the engine is idle, nothing.. when I'm going running just under 3000 rpms in second gear (ie about 40kmh) there is nothing, but when i get up to about 55-60km/h, it starts, slowly at first then it picks up speed.

Now I suppose it is possible that the culprit was the flappy seal, but this knocking/rattling was rather loud, so I doubt that was it. Of course I haven't driven since I pushed the seal back in, so I don't really know for sure.

Anyways, I'm afraid to drive it, and want some help trying to figure things out?

Most innocent cause of the random noise could be a loose heat shield somewhere? Or engine/trans mounts?

our '85.5 had a VERY noisy/clacky sounding loose windshield rubber surround. just put some goop on it and press it back in and let it cure. then drive it and see if the clacking stops too. it took me quite awhile to figure out that the noise was the windshield surround rubber. it did it at about 40 mph or over.

Yeah, I've been thinking and maybe the seal actually IS causing the noise. If thats the case, I'm totally overreacting hehe. (Big sigh of relief)

It's funny cause after I got off the highway I stopped on a side street to just check over the car. I looked in all the wrong places though. Never thought to check around the winshield/roof area haha.

Anyway, I'll take it out tommorow or something and try to confirm whether or not that the seal is the noise maker.

Oh, another thing: is it ok to put the sunroof up/down at highway speeds? What do you guys normally do?? Thanks again.

Haha, all noises were a result of the loose seal. Noises gone.

I really jammed it back in there good, untill I get something to seal it, or just get the mech to seal it when I do my oil change. Anyway, I'm relieved.

Oh, if I do it myself, what should I use to seal it????

Just a guess, but could also be that the trim above the door is slightly loose on one side... every once in a while, mine comes loose and causes a hell of a racket.
