Default Simple cruise control question

On an 86 944 does the cruise use the same switch on the brake pedal as the brake lights or does it have a separate switch.
My car has one switch on the brake pedal and one on the clutch. The one on the brake pedal makes brake lights work so I was wondering if it also works the cruise or if the switch is missing. Thanks

The cruise control switch is on the clutch pedal. It allows you to shift gears without disengaging the cruise control, or letting it rev the engine up to redline (which it will do it if put the car in neutral and let the clutch out). 944's do not have a switch, like most manual shift cars do, which won't allow you to start the car without your foot on the clutch.

I would think it has to have a switch on connected with the brakes to disengage the cruise when you hit the brakes. My question is it the same switch that the brake lights use or a different switch.

I can't see them using 2 switches, it should just tap into the brake light circuit.

The owner's manual description of the cruise system indicates that there is a switch connected to the brake (and operationally I know this because braking will disengage the cruise) but I believe it runs off the one switch.
