What is that button above the cabin light?
NOT, the little black 3-way switch that controls the cabin light, BUT the hidden switch that's mounted under the middle latch for the sunroof.
I'm thinking it's a little status switch that gets depressed when the sunroof is in and down - to prevent the sunroof motor gears from stripping - but it' can't be because it doesn't depress that way.
So - what is it?
BTW It's not in the owner's manual!!!

Come on guys. I know a bunch of you have read my question.
WTF is it for?
Would a photo help? If it doesn't have something to do with the sunroof, then I'm totally clueless on this one.

Rich: If you meen the flimsylittlemicroswitchnormallyhiddenunderthetriangularplasticcover in the center of the roof direct in front of the sunroof engaged by a lip fixed to the sun roof itself that looks like a latch but isnt: You guessed right.
It tells the sunnroof control that the roof is in, It dis-engage when the roof is either full open or removed.

Not too sure, there are different types of mechanisms installed over the years.
it is my understanding that the actual retraction (pull in) movement is stopped by the micro switch on the motor drive in the back.
This switch will stop further lifting when the roof is in and opened.
There is a wiring diagram at pelican somewhere.

There are 3 switches. The one you are talking about senses the sunroof is in and allows the arms to move up and down (but not retract from the roof). The other two switches are back on the piece of metal the motor attaches to. They have little rollers, and when the roof is all the way down they are supposed to switch on and tell the motor to stop moving. If these aren't working the motor will not stop and the arms will retract even when in motion.
