Default Bilstein strut swap

Hi, I know there’s probably some threads about this, and I’ve looked at some but couldn’t find the answers to these questions.
1- I have an 87 turbo with the m474 koni strut housings can these be modded the same as the Sachs or boge housing to accept the inserts?
2- which bilstein b6 inserts to use. Seems I’ve seen two different numbers. 34-000403 and 34-001042.

thanks

Yes they can be modded for the Bilsteins if you can find them, they’ve been out of stock for a while. The 34-001042 has a higher rebound better suited to uprated springs (200lb and up). For stock springs run the 34-000403.

Or you can send them back to Koni to get them refurbished

Are they doing that again? I thought they weren’t rebuilding them.
I had a line on a set of the bilstein 34-001042’s that were bought, but new for sale. That’s why I wanted to go that route. Like magk944 said sold out otherwise.
probably the easiest route might just be to stick with a koni and swap in the 1414’s.

I did mine through TrueChoice Koni Racing Services
