I haven't seen it mentioned here before, but NEW spring plates are available in the aftermarket, from one vendor at any rate. I ordered them from partworks.de. They took two weeks to get to me from Germany to where I live in California, and cost just under $300USD. They're made by Prekom, a company that specializes in chassis parts for European exotic cars like Ferraris, Porsches, and so on. I'm not sure why they're bothering with 944s, but I'm happy they did as they look well made and a good match for the OE pieces.






Something else I'd thought I'd present, which for all I know is common knowledge, is cleaning parts with CLR. After cleaning soluble stuff like oil or grease off with Gunk EB-1, and then soapy water, what you often find remaining is rust (on ferrous parts) or deposits from exposure to the elements (mineral deposits from water, road salt, oxidation). About a year ago I experimented with dipping parts in CLR in an attempt to get this funk off. I do have a sandblasting cabinet, but I don't always want to use it, especially on aluminum, or around sensitive surfaces. I'm very pleased with the results I've gotten so far. I really wish I'd have taken a picture of what these looked like beforehand. This car spent some time in New York, and these parts in the pics below were mostly black from some kind of weird oxidation. This black stuff had been virtually untouched by my initial attempts at cleaning, even with a wire brush. But four days in CLR cleaned them up pretty well I think! Before work each day I'd give them a quick scrub down with a nylon brush and drop them back in. There was just some crusted on 'stuff' in the 'hook' feature that a bolt goes through that I picked away with a steel dental-type pick. When finished the CLR can be recovered and kept for future use, which is good as it's kind of expensive at $25.00/gallon.

i used calcium-lime-rust remover on some 65 year old vw brake drums. looked brand new after soaking a day.

300 with the bushings is a steal.

Thanks for posting this! P/N 951 333 021 00 for late model 944s is listed as Discontinued with Porsche, so nice to have another source. I just ordered a pair for my S2 since I'm going to be doing some suspension work.
