Talking Porsche emblem at the steering wheel

Many older Porsches come with a plain-looking horn cover at the steering wheel, without a Porsche emblem. I decided to spice it up a bit with a badge (and to make it look more like some of the newer Porsches). Here is a picture:

How did I do it?
I took a Porsche key chain from Sears, cut of the chain eye, drilled and tapped two holes in the black sections of the emblem, and screwed them in from behing the horn pad using cut-to-length bolts. Finally I repainted the drilled-through sections with high-gloss black rust paint.
I think it looks good, although when you look closely, you'll see the horse in NOT black. So this wouldn't work for a purist, but for a "cheapo" like me, :-), it's OK.

That does look good! It actually appears to be inset a bit.

Many years ago, I placed a Porsche 356 badge on my wheel using double sided tape. Here's a pic, sorry about the wheel position.

Mike, FWIW, the wood is real Burlwood. I installed it in the 80's and I realize that it looks a little dated now but... I think I'll leave it in for a while longer.

Just did a similar enhancement to my wheel with a crest I bought on ebay. Also fitted some great sill protectors I bought from Harvey Peck.

PCMAX- You put that wheel back where it belongs right now.

Nice examples of the early dash..I wanted black carbon fiber but it updated the interior too much for my liking- I have the regular old "rare" black.

I second the nice looking Burlwood, excellent job!

I didn't think the badges would look nice on the wheel, but they do!

The Door sill protectors are available from Harvey Peck I think his e-mail is 944nut@comcast.net He was great to deal with & a genuine 944 enthusiast this may sound like blatant advertising & I hope I'm not breaking any rules here but I would like to give the guy a rap.
He is a Rennlist member so you could probably look him up I'm not sure how though.

They have Porsche key chains at Sears?? Are they less than the $12.95 OEM ones?

This is big news!
