Unhappy Rear Brake pads

I have a minor? glitch that is causing me a headache. The inside of my rear calipers have a rectangular "tang" that protrudes into the space where the pads should go. On the back of my pads, there is a notch for a tang..but my tang and notch don't line up. The notch in the pads is about 1/2" lower than the tang. I've tried two separate vendors of rear pads, and both the pads are the same. I have an '83 car...and the rear calipers were professionally rebuilt. Is there an "early" and "late" rear pad? Or did the guy get the outer brackets swapped? Both the brackets appear to be the same, and oriented in the same place as far as the tang goes. Thanks for any help.I can post photos (perhaps) if that would help any. They are standard Porsche calipers.

I have photos of the tang inside the caliper, next to the rotor. I will try to post. Thanks.

The tang is on the floating frame. The frame slides along slots in the mounting body (the part with the piston) and is spring loaded. Change the floating frame angle by forcing against the spring pressure to align.

Thanks Gage..I couldn't post the pic, as it wouldn't send from my computer..perhaps I don't know the proper sequence of procedure to do this..However, I will try to install the pads...as the spring pressure now forces the floating frame to drag against the rotor. Hopefully, this will all go well.
Thanks again

Haven't had the time to try out the set of Mintex pads again. Been working on several other minor projects, C-V axles, heat shields, remote oil cooler system and belt adjustment bar problems. I will get onto it more this next week. Hopefully by then, I will be able to learn how to post pics to R-list. Willing to learn though. Must be fairly easy since so many guys on here can do it.
