I bought a used washer bottle (supposedly didn't leak), but it leaks. I hated doing that job with everything I had to remove. Plus the 1988 bottle is so much cheaper ($80 vs $200). That being said, will the 1988 Washer Bottle (944 628 060 00) fit in a 1987 car where the early bottle (477 955 451 D) goes?
I'm thinking about cutting the old one out and replacing with the late one if they fit and it goes in without removing the wheel arch, oil cooler, and underbody covers.

Yes, I put a late bottle on my '86 951, but you will need a late washer pump for that bottle...and if I remember correctly, a common L-bracket for one of the mounts.
I also replaced the bottle on my 87 951 and removed/ replaced from the bottom. I loosened the bolts/screws on the front of the inner fender, removed the brake duct, and a few of the bat wing screws and it came out with a little tugging. It wasn't too bad.
Just so you’re aware, you can now purchase the ‘86 bottle from Porsche again. I bought mine in maybe February of 2020 ($200 if I remember correctly). I’m assuming you bought a used bottle if it is leaking.
only thing I noticed is that the new bottle had a small amount of plastic covering the area where the headlight washer pump would go. But it turns out if you have headlight washers and subsequent pump then you just shave off that bit of plastic covering with a pocket knife and you’re left with a perfect hole for the headlight washer.
