Default OT; Potenza RE910's

Sorry for the O/T, but need some info on Potenza RE910's for my fiancees' daily driver, a '94 Pontiac Firebird(3.4V6) She is far from an aggressive driver by any means. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Great tire for those cars. Last an eternity, very smooth ride, unfortunately will not be around much longer as it is being replaced with a new tire in 5 days

Sounds like a good time to get a good deal on 'em.
Matt, I'll try that PM again.

Matt, Thanks! What are they being replaced with? Should I go with the new version or go ahead with the 910's?

The new tire is the G009, it is H rated and looks similar to the old SH-30. Might be worth trying the new one, there should not be a huge price difference. I will have to check to see if that size is launched on April 1 or not.

Hi David,

I have Potenzas on my 951. They last quite a stretch....I still have 1/2 of my thread left after 30,000 miles. However, they are also known to generate more noise than most tires as you pick up speed.

Other than the noise, they stick very well in both dry and wet conditions.

Matt, do you work for Bridgestone or someting?

I was planning on getting 950's for my Scirocco and Audi.

Hacker, yes.

950 is a great product but is directional so no rotations (front to back only). G009 comes out in a few days and if you are looking for H-ratred product this might be for you. Why not wait a few days. If you can wait a while longer until I get there we might be able to do much better on the price.

ACG which Potenzas? It is a family name there are LOADS of different models and none are "known" for what you describe.

I run the RE730s on my 951. I would not recommend the RE730 if you are looking for a quiet ride:

Yes, Matt...I should have clarified that the various models of Potenzas offer different ride characteristics.

No problem, I would agree with you about the 730, the shoulder was open and therfore cupped on almost every car it was put on, this accounted for the noise. That being said the hook up and grip of that tire was incredible. It has been discontinued for some months, replaced by the 750 wich does not have the noise issue.

Thanks for the validation Matt. It looks like the RE750s the next time around when it comes to new rubber for my babies!

No problem, my guess is that it is the most common complaint with them. FWIW, Mustang and Camaro guys swear by the 730 for off line performance.

From what I've seen the G009 price point is LOWER than that of the RE910. The G009 is asymetrical IIRCC incorporates the UNI-T AQ2 tire technology and should be rated at 40,000 miles (treadwear).

It is H rated with a full width nylon cap ply, dual layer tread to enhance wet and dry traction after the tire is half worn. It will be available in fitments for the Audi and the Scirocco. I was trying to get a customer to wait on them for his Passat. We ended up putting the RE910 (205/65/15)

The price varies by district. The target is between RE910 and Eager.

It is directional and everything else you said is right.

Kev - I can see those Tire Product Knowledge classes are paying off!
