Default Bummin, where to get triple square?

pelican parts just emailed me saying the triple square wrenches i ordered MONDAY, saying they are out of stock. this pisses me off because i wanted to get my car running this weekend, and now it looks like i cant because i'm not going to pay like 20 bucks for shipping overnight or something. grrr... anyone know where to get these? i need an 8mm triple square (cheesehead) wrench for this weekend.. i asked at sears and they looked at me like im stupid and they had never heard of it, and i didnt see it at autozone. someone in ri or eastern connecticut have this wrench i could borrow? or where i can get it possibly at a chain store that owuld be nearby?

You can get a cheap one at Napa or maybe Autozone. You have to be carefull though because the cheap ones tend to round off the bolts on the inside if it's not seated straight.

I saw them at Autozone. They were with the sockets and tools. They're in a pack of four. 6mm,8mm, 10mm, and 12mm.

Don't know...some go by one name and some go by the other. I found mine at Carquest, they cater more to Euro cars it seems and carried them either as a set or by themselves (my second one cost me $3?). These are the same tools used on some GM vehicle brakes and on Volkswagens, so asking about those vehicles might help.

Don't get that crap! You'll be sorry.

Go to http://www.skhandtool.com
and get No._19704
4 Piece 3/8" & 1/2" Drive Metric Triple Square Bit Socket Set
Price: $ 60.90

It'll last forever (lifetime warranty) and it'll work without stripping the bolts.

Or just get the one you need if you don't want to get the set.

It's a little bit more (couple of bucks) than the crap from autozone or sears, but it's well worth it.

That may be true....but if you want it done and can't wait until next week for shipping....

I'd like to do the Snap On one at maybe that one at some point, but right now there was more important things to do and I needed it done ASAP. I don't know when I'll ever need it again (hopefully never!) so I can't see paying $61 for the set right now myself.

I'm in agreement with Dal. Buy the SK products. I just used mine last night. You can either get the full set (6,8,10, and 12mm all of which are used on a 944) or buy them individually. if you go to www.thetoolwarehouse.net you'll find the full set for $31. They are also in NJ so you should get them next day being in RI (maybe two days). No affiliation just a very satisifed customer of that place.

no napa does have them. IIRC its part number SER (napa service tools listing) 6034

if not tell em its a VW tool, serrated wrench like the others have told you. 60 is outrageous. its like 6 or 7 from napa, and i've NEVER had a problem rounding out bolts.... i dunno what kinda crack these other guys are smoking.

good luck!

No crack smoking here but I have a handful of rounded off bolts that I had to drill out, which I guess is because of the NAPA tool I bought. They seem to come out fairly easily with a borrowed Hazet socket.
