225 tyres on 9 inch wide rims
I'm looking for new rubber for the 16x9 Club Sport rear wheels on my 951 S and the choice in 245/45-16 is not looking great.
Is anyone around here using 225s on 16x9 wheels? I would really appreciate pictures and advice since I fear that they will look a bit too stretched on those wheels.
This is one of the current 245/45-16 Bridgestone S-02 that I'd like to replace:

Looking at the picture , it seems the 245’s are already too small for those wheels ,normally 275’s would be the tire of choice for nine inch wheels ...
If you really want 225’s , seven inch wheels would be preferable !
Cheers

I love the 16x9 wheels of the Turbo S and my goal is to keep them using some reasonably modern rubber. Since the choice of 245s is extremely limited, I'm thinking about 225s...

Looking on tire rack I found a couple of options in the 245/45 including the new Pirelli P7 with a very period-correct look. Yokohama also has a similar type offering in the A-008P.
It is frustrating looking for tires in this size but I would not recommend going to a 225 on a 9" wheel, the tread width for the S-02 you have in a 225/50 section is only 8.1 inches, so you're talking almost 1/2" of stretch on each side. The 245 is the minimum typically recommended for a 9" wheel.
Recognizing that it wouldn't be easy or cost-effective, if you want to go with 225, I would look for two more 8" wide wheels to go with a square setup.

For a 944 body I would get 245. Kumho has 245 16" tires.
