Wipers parking in the middle of the windscreen
When I got my 1987 944s the intermitten wipers and parking didn't work, so I bought a new relay and the intermitten function and parking started to work, but now I have a new problem, the wipers will only park in the middle of the windscreen. What might be the problem? Is it the linkage somehow, misalignment of the teeth on the cogs or is it related to the parking circuit in the wiper motor?
Either way, the PO ****ed it up somehow and removed the relay. Hoping for an answer, as I cant find anything adequate on the web.

Managed to figure it out, was the problem 931guru also suggested. Had some real pain in the *** bolts and screws, one screw on the wiper motor was stripped and one bolt rusted shut on the air box, but managed somehow to remove the wiper mechanism without removing either one.
Thanks for suggestions!

In my case nothing would have improved from adjusting the wipers alone, as my wipers went from bottom to up normally, but parked in the middle. So if I had adjusted the wipers to the bottom, they would have just crashed into the engine bay.

Pretty much. The bolt on the bottom of the wiper motor/wiper assembly there holds the crank to the motor and keeps the wipers in line. Theoretically you could get that bolt off somehow with a tiny wrench without completely removing the assembly but I have no idea how.
I just rebuilt the wiper motor, realigned everything, rebuilt the airbox flap system, reinstalled everything and put a new $200 drip tray on there to boot. That should keep the motor dry but man it is a real pain in the *** to do.
