Default popping thru exhaust on part throttle

My 83 944 na track car seems to run ok, idles ok, pulls ok, BUT when I go to part throttle after a full throttle pull it pops thru the exhaust so hard I'm afraid it's going to explode the pipe. sounds like a gunshot. any ideas on where to start? TIA!

Backfire in the exhaust is either a rich condition or added oxygen like a flange leak. Check your fuel pressure leak down rate and look at the downtube gaskets.

I had some off-throttle exhaust popping for a period... seemed to disappear around the time I worked on a bunch of stuff, some of which involved removing exhaust and replacing with new gaskets, so I'm gonna second the above...

Thanks for the help! I'm leaning towards the rich fuel side, I think I have some iffy injectors.
