Also watch for sparks when you disconnect the battery. Big sparks = big draw.

yeah theres defenitly some really big sparks. but thats only when the posative clamp touches the posative terminal and the bottom of the windshield at the same time. i thought that was normal.

ok i charged it up today before work. then i unhooked the positive and negative leads. then i jsut came home and hooked them back up and it started right up. so its not the battery.

what are some common places for shorts to be found. were should i start looking. I really need to get a meter, dont have one right now. im sure that would help huh.

Radioshack and various hardware stores will have them, spend the bit extra and get a decent one. Look for one that will measure amperage, preferably up to 10 amps just so you have that feature.

LOL yeah, if you touch the frame too, then it is normal.
But, between the pos wire and the pos terminal isn't. Just little sparks.
I use an ammeter from a local parts store, Partsource. They have a little 2" round ammeter, for mounting in the dash, with 2 screw terminals on the back. Goes up to 60A, good for finding those big draws.
