Red face what year is my car

ok, so i've ALWAYS thought it was an 83' but somebody told me it may be an 82'

just curious

the sticker under the hood says

6/82 (date)
and WPOAAO941DN452166

btw: the original sticker on the owner's manual was for Hawaii
I assume that was the first owner

VIN is an '83 (D=1983) but the MY changeover is usually in September so that build date should make it an '82. Technically, there were no US cars in 1982 so they may have started production of the 1983 US cars early.

The "D" in the VIN indicates (WPOAAO941DN. . .) 1983 model year. The car was built and sold in 1982. (So I guess you can take your choice.)

where are the option codes? under that sound proofing in the back? or just under the carpet?....i'll have to look

Usually you just round up (base 12) for the year. Stupid .. but all cars are like that unfortunately

Yours was the first production month of the 944 for the US market, it was kind of a dry run and there are not many out there made in june.
