Hm-m-m-m, I love Boxsters....... taste like chicken. Nine of ten Boxturds in this area are driven by 40 year old females with their nose stuck so far up in the air, they can't see to put their make-up on while "driving". Has anyone ever figured out the difference between a Boxturd, and the base model 9(whatever) except the top and a few hp? Hell, I can barely tell them apart. If I'd plunked down $85 large, I think I'd want a little more exclusitivity. They are slow....though.

I dunno... I am a died-in-the-wool 944 guy, and have no desire to buy anything other than a 944, but I like the Boxsters and don't seem to recall any real performance deficiencies with them. Are they as easy to mod as a 951, nope... but that hardly means that they are bad cars. Time will tell how they hold up, and due to incredible numbers of them being built, I have a feeling they will cause a ripple effect in the depreciation cycles of Boxsters AND 944/968's... but that hardly warrants slagging them off as a "Boxturds" or accusing them of being slow. Heck, if you want slow... my '84 will give it up to pretty much any minivan on the market right now. That doesn't make me love it any less.

If you want to talk about Boxster drivers, well... I probably won't argue a lot with you there. LOTS of first time Porsche owners in their ranks (just like there currently are in the 944 crowd, come to think of it! lol) that don't have an appreciation for the history of Porsche and they tend to group together and look down their noses at the other models... hmmm, doesn't this sound familiar? lol

No flame intended here, and your opinion, of course, is just as valid as mine. It will just mean that there will be a better selection for me to pick from when I decide that they are cheap enough. Different strokes for different folks.

Regards,

You know, not even people in 944's wave back to me. I've waved at about 9 or 10 944's by now, not even a second look by them. I don't get it.

i doubt most minivans can beat your 84, unless you got some problems with it.

Man, that's how I feel about my car...as all Porsche owners should. I wish they would wave more often!
Great clip!

Eyal, its LA, you don't wave unless you want to flip the bird, or maybe shake your fists in anger after getting cut-off. Maybe flash some gang signs depending on enighborhood

And Boxsters are nice, but they are too damn pricey for my tastes... they also have this girley stigma to them in SoCal, that and a 3-series BMW.

yieldsign2, most anything can beat my '86, accept it, 944 are slow. Just look up the slow 944 post from a few months ago where there were plenty of owner testimonies on how to get beat by roughly everything on the road.

Nice clip! Thanks.
I don't get too many waves from Boxsters either, but after reading the replies on the Boxster forum and then the replies HERE...
We often hear what snobs (etc) 986 owners are towards front engine cars but the only real jackass in either thread is Predator and he doesn't even own a Porsche. Pretty pathetic if you ask me

OK, I'll admit it.

I like Boxsters. One day when they depreciate enough, I'll probably add one to my stable.

I've never had any other Porsche drivers wave except for those I've seen in other 944's And most of them, I've initiated the wave!

Let me drop in my .02

Couldn't agree with Scott (sh944) more. Couldn't DISAGREE with Predator any more. I may not be a "died-in-the-wool 944er", I'd like to have a nice early 911 if I could. Barring that in the near term I am pretty damned happy with my '44 and may keep her forever.

This idea that there is something "wrong" with Boxsters (914's, 924's, 944's 928's and even 911's in the 356 days) is absurd. Porsche makes some pretty damn finely engineered cars. You only have to see what.. well, all of us on these boards have done with the various models to know this is true. The Boxster is no exception. It is an excellent example of a sports car made for a particular niche...more or less the SAME niche the 944's were made for! It's not MY niche, but I ain't referring to it or ANYTHING else as a "turd" either.

Face it, there are NO truly bad cars made anymore. The competition is too intense in the various market segments. There are just cars that are bad for your intended use. I'm sure a Kia...whatever...is a lot of value for a low price for the segment they are going for. I don't want to EVER have to own one, but they aren't bad, and aren't worthy of being called toilet names.
