Default high rpm hesitation

I've been getting hesitation at 5200-5500 rpm. It's a track car, so 5-6k is the a normal operating range, and it's really quite annoying. It doesn't always happen, but more often than not it does. The car's an 85.1, engine is '83. Fairly new ignition components, just checked the flywheel sensors and they seem ok. Any thoughts?

Ok, I'll test that as soon as it stops snowing

I had a similar problem with the engine in my '84, and I solved the problem by swapping the early DME and AFM out with parts from an '86.

Hey Staf,

Did you ever solve this? I'm at Rennsport II with a similar problem...

Could also be the resistor array in the AFM has a worn-out track from the wiper-arm. Hook up a voltmeter to the air-flow signal wire and see if you get a drop-out in voltage when the car stumbles.

I never did fully resolve it. It went away on it's own right before my transmission went (unrelated no doubt, but I was really happy there for about 5 min...). I don't drive it much, so I'm not sure if it stayed gone. I have a track day this week, so I'm going to find out if I need to restart the diagnostic trail.
