I consistantly get around 20 mpg due to city driving.

Since the tanks holds so much gas, I had never let it get all that low and didn't realize until recently that my car has low fuel indicator.

Recently, the light has begun comming on around 1/2 tank of gas. My fuel gage still works, but the light is kind of annoying.

Anyone know how the light works or what may cause this?

working correctly, does the light come on when the needle is below the red line? i hit the redline before i get gas usually and it doesnt light up. Is the light triggered by the gauge itself's reading or by the actual amoutn of gas. (like if your gauge is off, would your light be off too)

I just got back from a 500 mile trip, got 440 before light came on. Got 25 mpg on that tank, 75% highway - the rest was harder city driving.

I think my experience shows that the light is not activated by the gage. My gage works fine, but the light is comming on at 1/2 tank.

Although, at the same time, this does not prove anything.
