Default Alarm module

Where is the alarm module located in an early 944? I wish to make sure that mine is inoperable. The PO may have taken it out, but I want to make sure. By removing it, will it affect any DME functions? I think that he may have removed the wires from the switch on the rear fender and taped them up..but silly me, I want to cut the head off the snake. Thanks for any info..

It's a black box approximately the size of a pack of cigarettes. On early 944s (pre-1985.5), it's located behind the radio in the back of the center console.
Bypassing it won't have any negative effect on the DME. The only effect I know of is you won't have the factory alarm to worry about anymore.
Here is a link to Clark's Garage on bypassing the alarm module for both early and late 944's:

I'm looking at the differences on drawings on clarks garage and the my90 wiring diagram.
The relevant drawings are below. Cg states to jumper 1+4 and 7+8. Wiring says "without alarm jumper 1+3"
A lot depends too on what Clarks Garage mean by "late" has anyone any insight?

Clark's usually means pre/post 1985.5 for early/late.

But the schematic for my car (1987) is different yet again:

(Note however that the bridge instructions on mine do match Clark's Garage.)

Beware: The alarm module for the '89 944S2 and later model 944s' is different from the previous years and bypassing in the way that Clark's Garage show will cause wire harness damage (smoke).

Agree whole-heartedly Paul 👍. Drawings are out, tracking what each feed actually does and ensure you enable the correct item and don't short to earth.

Interesting jeyjey and gives me confidence to follow the My90 diagram with its recommended bridge now that I've seen how CG does relate to the drawings and is not random.

I have checked the wiring diagram. The jumper on the alarm control unit connects the DME relay directly to ignition switch on.

The jumper on the auxiliary g19 relay connects the two tailgate locks to ensure they will work.

Looking good thank you.

Glad my resurrection helped! Rennlist is amazing! I'm on other forums for other marques and none compare.
Just treble check the right MY wiring Tiger. Google is your friend to find it.
Best of Luck. Andrew
