Default ride height questions (xpost ala 951/S)

ok, car's almost done @ the paint shop, they're doing an alignment for me before it leaves next week.

i need to get the ride height adjusted properly before doing so however... i've got on the car: 89 trailing arms / hubs / etc, bilstein escort setup w/ camber plates up front, kokeln rear suspension piece (t-bar delete). so basically, w/ the escort setup, it's just your typical threaded perch dealie...

anyway, how/where do i measure ride height (i.e. do i mesure from body work, jack points, trailing arms, what)? and what do you recommend for track/autox/street (it's gonna see a good bit of street use but i could care less about tire wear or comfort).

it was mentioned on the racing forum to go 25.5" measured from the top of the fender lip (12 o-clock) to the ground all around. anyone else differ / suggest otherwise?

I thought I read on here somewhere people were measuring from wheel center, to 12 o' clock on the fender. Pretty sure that isn't any different than measuring to the ground though.

IIRC the max lowering suggested on stock components is 12.5" from top of fender to center of center cap.

The 225/45/17 is 25.0 inches tall, make sure the fenders have no sharp edges.

Nope, that would be from the ground. A wheel/tire diameter is only about 25", so unless you want a foot of clearance between the top of the tire and the fender....

i'd prefer handling over looks, but i assume the suggested lowering provides a look w/ the tires barely tucked up into the wheelwell if looked @ from the side? i don't like cars that look like low-rider hooopties... from your other post showing your setup @ 13" that seems good to me, where is the listing re: safety / max specs to be found? (i dont think i have to worry about the control arms as mine are fabcar arms tho).
