Default 924 Mechanic Recommendation - SF Bay Area

Picked up a 79 924na for a song as a project car. May need some professional help with some engine issues.

Can anyone recommend a mechanic for this older car (preferably on the peninsula, but will go farther if needed

).

TIA

Looks pretty tidy for 40 years old!
Southern end of the peninsula (Mountain View), I can recommend Tony Heyer at Heyer Performance.
Quality guy, quality work, and Porsche experience that would blow your mind.
Word of caution.... parts and labor costs as they are, might quickly exceed the value of the car

Thanks - Plan is to get an estimate on what it needs, then decide between fixing this engine, or swapping it.

Dave Modderman in Mountain View is an excellent Porsche mechanic and has extensive 944 series knowledge. I've used him for 10+ years for big projects that I don't have time for.

For a 924 - since the engine is VW / Audi and more similar to a VW Golf MK1 than anything Porsche, you might have good luck with Fred's Garage in Redwood City.

What's do you think is wrong with it?

You really shouldn't be afraid to work on it yourself. The early VW engines are hard to screw up on compared to the later Porsche ones. Swapping it will cost much, much more than you'd ever think.
