Yeah, it looks like you got a decent deal Zack. You're gonna need a new header panel and you're gonna have to fix the pass. door, then paint the headlight covers, but other than that it looks pretty nice. Like other have said, I suggest you make sure that mechanically it is up to snuff, then worry about performance chips...if the engine is gonna be working harder, it may aggrevate problems that are already there, and make them worse...hope to see more of you and your car!

Zack- Check out www.tweeks.com (1-888-489-3357) and www.performanceproducts.com (1-800-423-3173). Required parts catalog for your library. or in my case the bathroom.

as well as clarks-garage.com.

there are more- that's all I have access to right now.

No one has mentioned Paragon yet... or did I miss it.
Everyone here will agree (well, 99% of us) that
www.paragon-products.com
has the best service out there.
For a newbie (as I was not THAT long ago) they're worth every penny; Skip and Chuck will walk you through any troubles that you're having.
And prices are great.
Check it out.
And you'll probably want to pick up the full workshop manuals... send me an email regarding that:

Hey guys I really appriciate all your advice and help! I feel I did get a good deal I got the VIN and ran it and it is a low mileage car no accidents reported etc... I plan on doing the TB and going over the entire car before really driving it but I think I will have to drive it 5 hours home. Do any suppliers sell a TB kit with EVERYTHING needed to do the job 100%? Thats #1 on my list for peace of mind...

Red 944- We will have to meet up when I get it and you can check out the car, I live right by the South Shore Hospital..

Thanks Guys!

One other quick question... The Nose header panel between the headlights, does anyone know where I can pick one up or should I go for an aftermarket one with the air vents like my avitar? Thats also the color of the car gold.

Thanks
Zack

I have to chime in with the above. Too often we get complaints from relatively new owners about how much money and time it takes to keep our cars going. Truth is that this bad reputation is about ill maintained, beaten to the ground cars. Car fax will not indicate a broken speedometer and any miles generated after. Car Fax did not disclose the fender bender my car was involved with the previous PO.

I sincerely hope you will luck out with your new purchase. Good Luck.

You can cut those vents yourself, easily. Ask nine-44 (I think) about his process. Or you can have a body shop roll the edges / cut it for you.
So my point is... you can pick up a used one from a dismantler or junk yard and for not too much have it fixed up / cut up - whatever - and painted for FAR less than a new one.

Paragon and a few others sell the T-belt kit. If you have not done one before it is NOT a two hour job. It will take you that long to remove the covers if you havent done it before. I would pick it up and take it for a PPI (in this case post purchase inspection) and find out what needs to be done. While you would save some money doing the belts yourself they require an incredibly expensive tensioner (yeah, yeah, I know the Krikit but to be honest I have never seen one produce repeatable results) and a fair amount of time.

I think, while sometimes harsh, we are cautioning against some of the typical failures that result from PO's. I got an even better deal on mine and the car ran/drove great. Now that I have had it apart, I wonder sometimes how it ran at all!

How are you going to drive it home? It sounds like it's not licensed or insured right now, won't that be an issue?

Did you put a big deposit on it? I'd sure want to see it and drive it before paying. The guy said it runs "good", that can cover a lot of conditions.

There's a vented nose panel on ebay right now: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...category=42611

I am looking at towing it back with a U-Haul trailer this weekend. I saw the tensioners on Ebay do they work at all? this is a second car so I can take my time and do things right. Does anyone know any good independent mechanics that can give it a good once over of what it needs, I will be doing all the work myself though. I am not being nieve I know they are expensive for parts and can be troublesome at times but I bought it knowing this...
Thanks Again Guys! P.S. I just got a rennlist 2 year membership!

I would call Scott Gomes first, I think he is in your general area. They dont come much more knowledgable than that. His user ID here is UnderPressurePerformance. He is almost always at his shop so it should be pretty easy to get ahold of him.
