Tire wear question

Tire wear question
I have pitting on the outside front drivers tire. It is only on half of the tire.
What causes this, I would think ball joints but what else.
I will post some pics.
Thanks for the help.

What size tire are you running? If it's too big, that may be causing your tire to rub. Makes sense it's only on the driver's side, cause there's more weight on that side, if you are driving alone.
If your suspension is tired, that may also cause the same condition.

I concur, that appears to be where the fender is cutting the tire. Easy enough to check, go look at the fender lip!

They are P225/60/r15.
So I don't think they are to big.
I don't think it is rubbing because it's only worn on half of the tire. Like the wheel is off balanced.
If you are looking at the tire the top half is worn but the bottom half is fine.
I replaced the struts about one year ago. New tires, balanced and four wheel alighnment. Driven maybe 15,000 miles.

That actcually makes sense. You probably hit a pot hole or something simliar that compressed the suspension it cut the tire in that one spot.

Just for the record, I'm running 255x40x17 on the back of my S2 and they don't rub! But it does look like your tyres have been rubbing (although you'd hear it if they were) so the only other thing is too much wild cornering on soft tyres!?
