thanks guys.
Gage, that photo is pretty cool! I suspect you are correct about some threaded studs on the backside of the original flares.
My fiberglass flares did come with some rubber fender welting; at this time I'm undecided whether or not I'll use it.

I like the build. Not sure if you remember me or not, but I bought a spare wheel from you back in 2005. I used to live over in DFW. Glad to see you're doing well!

After hours of measuring, cutting, welding, and grinding- I finished the passenger side fender well and flare. This side was done better than driver side; the hole is completely closed and I especially like the two access holes I drilled on the inside of the fender well for mounting bolts. The remaining bolts are accessible from inside the car.

agreed! I was a bit anxious also, but I put several wet towels up around the tank and above the fender cut line, and all is well

Changing rod bearings. Old rod bearings at the bottom.

Hello beautiful Rebuilt k26/6

welded on some reinforcement plates for the front sway bar mounts. I plan on using the 30mm front sway bar as I’ve decided to make this a combo street/track car.

I ended up buying a manual steering rack for both 924 and 944 so I thought it would be interesting to show a comparison of all three with their respective intermediate shafts. I thought the 924 rack could be made to fit the 944 but not easily.
Powered 944 at the top, manual 944 in the middle, manual 924 at bottom.

Awesome project and nice pictures of the steering racks.

I want to convert to manual steering, but, are there tricks to make the manual steering easier to steer? I don’t have pythons for biceps and have hurt my back opening my bathroom window lol.

Please weigh the manual and power 944 steering racks - I’d love to know the weight difference. Thanks

I’ll try to weigh the manual rack vs power rack if I ever get around to it.

meanwhile... I painted the radiator core that was grafted in from a 944 turbo. Turns out rustoleum red is a remarkable match to Guards red.

sanding and filling dents, followed by final 2k primer/sealer.

and finally, I painted 3 coats of guards red base followed by 3 coats of 2k clear coat. Now for final wet sanding and reassembly.

And then, boom! Car repainted. Amazing.

I’m doing a 924S, also Guards Red (likely most common color) but not putting it thru this excellent metamorphosis.

Safe to assume you’re following the white 924S upgraded with 951 drivetrain, over on Pelican?

best, John
