Hang in there Julie.

I must side with Scott on this... don't give up one of your passions until someone makes you! The 968 tip / 951 auto should fill your need for speed while still being pratical.

Now, if your shoulder won't allow you to play with the heavy steering (even on the power assist cars), you may have to go into another class of car. (3 or 5 series comes to mind)

Lightbulb You guys are great!

Blue S2 said, "Yeah, Julie needs a Porsche thats easier to drive. Who is willing to donate a tiptronic 996?"

I'd gladly take it, Tony, if anyone did so!

Anyone know of a good place for Lumbar supports for your car!? That's one of the best ideas yet!

Um, concerning obtaining another car, we can't afford that, nor a place to put it. I'll be cutting back my work hours, and work more from home.

Though I have seen some older BMWs that look good, but parking and garage space is a problem.

And yes, the first doctor I saw is a Chiropractor, knows Biomechanics and all. Over the past 10 years, my back was perfect, until last year.

Yes, it's the only injury that caused all this. But it definately explains why I haven't been able to just sit down and draw or write since last summer! Get too antsy, from the pain building up.

In the mid-90s, I went to a Chiropractor, and he said I had one of the best spines he'd ever seen! Oh, I went with my exbf, he had back problems, so we Xrayed mine for the hell of it. Never thought I'd hear a Chiropractor say he wasn't really needed, lol.

Karl, you are correct, fluid buildup in the neck is bad, and that's the cause of the migraines. It's caused by my neck, spine, and shoulder being tweaked. That's what's caused the Scoliosis. Good news is that there is no permanent damage, and we're putting it all back in place. 3 days a week of manipulation, and the rest of the time of therapy is on the neck to recurve it, and straightening out the spine, and put the curve back in properly, instead of sideways.

When I fell, I was at a night club on a cement floor, wearing platform shoes (ones I used to be able to run in!), with a backpack on my right shoulder - which is where I hit, along with my left hip, and head. I was laid flat out, and what had happened is that my right ankle slipped on some oil someone had spilled on the floor, and wrenched INWARD violently enough, that the heel cut into my left ankle, as I went down. Not a normal fall by any sense of the word! Right ankle was dislocated, and my left one was suspected to have endured a hairline fracture from the impact of the heel.

The hip has stayed in place, and almost even with the other hip, but I try hard to sit up straight.

It looks like an MRI will be done, just have to go with the program.

I do have good days, had one on Monday, before the migraine came back with a vengeance.

As for the painkillers, it's what was left from when I had a root canal. I mostly take Ibuprophen, alternating between Tylenol and it. I've been taking extra calcium, which I will take for the rest of my life.

I hate taking painkillers, because it means I can't drive.

I guess the only other real real downer is that I don't see me turning Kijo into a track car soon, and driving her on a real track.

I don't percieve getting a completely automatic Porsche, but let's see what the longterm will be, before I start leaping to that conclusion...just can't fathom it!

Sorry to hear bout your fall and complications. Godspeed with the recovery!

For one, keep going to pyhsio and if they give you like homework excercises DO THEM! I don't give a cr*p if you are too busy and don't have time, your health comes first! And eat well if possible. That always helps. That's my advice.

My mom had a shoulder injury a few years back, and it took her a long time to heal. Unfortunatly that's the way it is, you just have to be patient and don't over exert yourself.

The doctor caught me outside my car tonight, and told me how to get in and out, without hurting my back - stick your butt in first, legs together, sitting down, get your head and arms in, then pull your legs in. It does help, beats my "stick your right leg in, slide down as you get in" technique, heh
Cool, that's is pretty much how I get in normally, cause I'm trying to preserve my seats. I'm really carefull getting in cause a) don't want to hit my head, and b) seats are delicate.

Good luck again. Cheers.

Default A Hint on the rotator cuff problem.

Make sure you have a good P T and do the exercises religiously! Many torn cuffs can be corrected by doing this to eliminate surgery. It may be a slow process but stay with it! I had surgery on mine 2 years ago and I really think if I had done the exercises I might have avoided it. I have had 2 friends in the last year who did.

However, if surgery is required it's not that bad, usually done on out-patient basis and you go home the same day. Then you STILL have to do the PT for rehab . That's one reason to try it first if the Dr. suggests it.

Best of luck and don't get impatient!

Does anyone have any experience with slightly oversized power steering pulleys to make parking lots a bit easier?

Julie:

I still have my 85.5 with power steering. I'm sure we could work something out if you're interested. I'd hate to see you give up a 944 if you want to stay in one. I'm really sorry you are hurting so much. My mother and brother both live(d) in constant pain - [understatement] it ain't fun. [/understatement] Lemme know if you're interested.

BTW - thanx for the tip on how to properly enter my car with a short skirt. No wonder people were staring!

Sorry to hear about your injuries Julie. Most people post about selling due to cost of maintenance. Your reason carries more legitimacy. Stick with the exercises. I had rotator cuff problems after a football game with tequila refreshments, it was a good tackle though! Rotator is painful but if you strengthen the surrounding muscles it will get better real quick.

I do the butt first to preserve the seat!

But seriously Im sorry to hear about your lagging injuries, at the worst case sell the 944 and get a 968 w/ triptronic, easier on your body plus the updated look would suit a classy lady like yourself..

If theres a will, there allways a WAY!!!

Here's just a few of the many which pops up from Google search:

http://www.aerobaticproshop.com/cata...ar-support.htm

Personally, I am using a unit sold by Performance Products listed from their Porsche catalog.

Lumbar support for the seat really is not going to do anything in julie's case. She has scoliosis of the lumbar spine, not hypolordosis. And Julie, if your PT can't tell you if you have a torn rotator cuff muscle (supraspinatus, infraspinatus, subscapularis, or teres minor), then time to find a new PT, because that is pretty easy to check with a few orthopedic tests.

Does this mean you have to sleep with your legs in the air??

...just wondering- Chris.

You know I only wish the best for you.

Maybe a 924S automatic?? Julie with her legs in the air driving my car.

That's a visual for ya... j/k.

Exclamation Chris gave me nightmares!!!

Chris, your description has given me nightmares, can't fathom it! AAAAARRRGHH!

No, don't sleep with feet in air, and don't sleep on right shoulder - but I do sleep with a pillow between my knees, helps with the hips and all, keeping them straight.

Anyway, NZ951 said, "Boost is very good therapy... 951 will fix everything..."

Yeah, I was wondering that!!! Anyone know if a 951 with power steering would help or hinder?

And what do you all mean there's an AUTO 951!? Sounds like an oxymoron to me, heh!

Michelle JD said, "BTW - thanx for the tip on how to properly enter my car with a short skirt. No wonder people were staring!"

Oh, that kills me, simply kills me, lol!

I'm seeing a Chiropractor, but looks like he is sending me to an orthopedic specialist.

Also, gotta take special type of Calcium now, but not too bad.

Hugs for all!

- Julie
