Here is my opinions on the whole matter:

I agree with UD, Porsche needs to be a sports car company before anything else. And they definitly need to make a small, compact "Elise" like car. A great deal of the 'kids' (younger people) these days are interested in effeciency, perhaps moreso than older generations. These youngins are going to make up the majority of the car market in the near future and a small car that provides excellent handling, good power and good fuel economy is going to be a hit in the years to come - especially with pollution and fuel cost being more of a concern with younger peoples. I foresee huge potential there.

Anyways, enough of what I think they should make...

Although I'm not the biggest fan of the Cayenne, nor the Sedan I look at it this way - and I'm definitly more receptive to this sedan. First off these models will make money for Porsche, so they can do the R&D and so they can make amazing sports cars too. In my opinion those models are more to fund other projects than anything.

Now listen up: This new 928 has 4 doors and holds probably 4-5 people. The 911 holds 4 currently. The 911 is rear engined currently, which is becoming outdated. Essentially what I'm getting at is by introducing a very practical, versatile daily driver car like this new 928, Porsche will pave the way for turning the 911 into a 2 seater, mid engined pure sports car. This is my theory at least. This way Porsche will still have a very practical car and also a very sporty car as well. The works.
