Way to go, man! Makes me miss my old 928. Always something else on the list to do. I think I have an extra shifter **** (PO pulled it with the boot) that came with my car if you want it for shipping. Just PM me the deets. Good luck, man!

Dear Brent: I'm glad that you're on the list and welcome! I have been rebuilding a1983 944 from a non-running hulk. I made a mistake when I first started the rebuild...what I did was that I put the rebuild (mostly ) on credit cards gouging me a lot of $$ on interest fees. When I first started I thought it wouldn't take as long as it did, thinking I would be done with it in a year or so. It's been 8 years now...and it is still not running. Long story short. Go to the bank, get a personal note for about 20K. That will set your budget. AND if you have good credit, you can get the $$ for maybe 5-10 percent. This will save you lots of headaches and interest fees. I finally did this, paid off a whole bunch of $$ in credit cards. After the car is running, perhaps you can get a car loan and pay off the personal note. I'm sure that you've possibly looked at this aspect of owning/restoring a Porsche. Just trying to save you additional headaches/heartaches and many dollars...Hopefully this tale of woe will be to your advantage.

Here is a good post for the electrical part of your sunroof. They is also a link in it showing how to repair the mechanical parts.
Clarke's garage also has a good write up.

I know for certain that the main cable going to the motor is snapped, and I'm pretty sure both cables to the individual lifting arms are snapped – at least there's nothing to engage with the exposed coil in the white transfer box. When I pulled the lifting arm assemblies apart, there was only ~3-4 inches of cable attached and I'm guessing the rest of this is stuck inside the rails, and I didn't have anything on hand to try to push them out.
