There was recent topic about the 'science' behind the research. Ithink it is a guide, however I have seen them contradict themselves when reponding to buyers who mail in about their cars. I think the prices in the mag are a good guide however are not the gospel.
Did you sell? Did he offer whithin the category for the correct condition of your car? Why should the offer have been different?
I ask because I am greatly interested in how they come up with the values and what a buyer/seller seesi n the market. Especialy when they are educated buyersor sellers.

Have him read the article and the disclaimer. It that doesn't work give him a short course in statistics and regional anomalies.
Was working my first real mech job at a VW shop. The owner would buy broken VW's, repair them and then sell them. He had a sweet black 67 bug that he was asking $700 with a rebuilt engine. A customer offered him $675. The owner said $700 firm.
The next day the same customer came back and said OK $700. The owner looked him square in the eye and said $750. What? The customer exclaimed. The owner said you should have bought it yesterday for $700. Tomorrow it's going to be $800.
The customer left but came back in 20 minutes with the $750.

Something Excellence doesn't take into account is the big difference in different regions. Some places see a decent 86 951 going for as low as 4k, where as around here it would fetch probably 7.

No sale, offer way too low, very few nice cars up this way so good cars fetch a premium.
I will bide my time, it's only been a week and a half in the paper.
Oh ya, Sorry exc911ence :0
