Default Instrument cluster

So, about 9 months ago I saved a 1986 944 from the crusher, automatic and non-turbo. It was a basket case, ive changed the ECU repaired the engine new head gasket, water pump, timing belt and now its less of a basket case. I took it on its maiden voyage today and the whole instrument cluster wasn't working then while driving I heard clicking from around the ECU and the instrument cluster came alive then died again any ideas? Thanks!

If you haven't done so already..clean all the grounds you can find. When electrical things go wonky..that's the first choice in finding the culprit. There's some I think under the dash, and a bunch up by the headlights on both sides. The green monster will make your life hell otherwise. just sayin.

I'm gonna look at that it would make sense seeing how the car was sitting in a garge for 7 plus years, also have a really bad ATF leak at the cooling hose right above the valve cover so i will be trying to get that sorted in the next few days also. Even under a rough set of circumstances it was still fun to drive something about cars pre mid-90s feels fantastic.

One of Dante's levels of hell has to be investigating automotive electrical issues. 928 issues being extremely high on the torture scale with 944 issues not to far behind.

In the last year my dash lights have become problematic, well 1/2 of them that is. I did a full LED conversion a few years ago which was without a doubt one of the best things I've ever done. Alas, I pulled the pod, cleaned the grounds and harness connectors, tested the lights then reinstalled. Yes, my lights now work but now my boost gauge doesn't nor does my bright lights indicator. Ugh!

So, when you pull the pod again, look to clean all the connectors and the grounds on the pod.
