i beat my friend in his GSR, with my A4. it was a middle of nowhere road, and only to 45 MPH, speed limit 55. i am against street racing, he just begged and begged. he had just got the car. however i agree with the point that you have nothing to prove. dont bother racing him, in fact be the bigger man and say that he would probably win anyway, and be done with it. and add that you would like to see him race Autocross with you sometime.

They had something good going with the GSR, luckily for the rest of us they dropped the ball with the RSX.

The GS-R is a very good car from the factory. Like the 944, they push as delivered but with any number of very minor changes, it can be quite competent. A couple friends of mine have built them for ITS and are getting north of 170 hp to the wheels. Clutch type LSDs are a very good addition to this car (and can be had for under 700 bucks installed) as well as shopping on Ebay for Type R LSDs for around 400 bucks. I have never seen an ITS 944 challenge an ITS GS-R around here (they actually struggle with my ITA CRX) but that might be a reflection on the 944s, not the Honda/Acura guys that show up. In short, both being in stock trim, a 944 should struggle to keep up with a GS-R on the track, then again, I have seen very few stock GS-Rs and even fewer stock 944s.
I'd think that for a track comparison, the GS-R is somewhere between the 944 and 944S and the ITR is somewhere between the 944S and 944S2 (and early 951).

Y'know, I was raised a hot-rodders' kid. A redneck one at that. I built and drove a mullet (hugger yellow; no YALLER, '73 Camaro LT) through high school. And yes, I did stupid (but isanely fun) **** like burnouts and donuts and tire-smokin' acceleration runs and YES some street racing (not much, though). Dumb kid ****.
There was this guy at my school with a dark green Chevelle (small block, but a hot one) that BADLY wanted to race me. I sad nah, but then two weeks later, I humiliated his *** with his girlfriend. We just coincidently crossed paths, and I said **** it. I dusted him badly and rubbed it in, too. I lifted the throttle and then got back in it giving him a half-assed chance. TWICE.
A month later, I'm leaving school. It was dead Summer and hot, and I always left my window cracked after lunch. There, ****ting on my drivers' seat was an open quart of oil. Not fun, not cool, and NOT easy to clean. The next week, Mr Chevelle makes some sideways comment about checking the oil in my car, and instead of playing dirty revenge, I just hauled off and popped him in the mouth. He gave me a confused look and I popped him again. He never said another word to me again, but my car always had an oily sheen on the seat, and I broke my hand when I hit him.
Point?? ****, I dunno. I just wanted to tell MY racing/ fighting/ macho-man story. No seriously, it's all macho bull****. I used to think that's what being a man was about. I had NO CLUE. True, I love racing, and I got into hot rods as I was getting OUT of moto-x and bmx. The racing jones is hard to shake, man.
Today, older, and somewhat wiser, I'd say tell him you drive a sports car, you don't NEED to prove it's worth (cuz IT does that everytime you DRIVE it), and then drive away (preferably with a really cute girl in the passanger seat). Drivers being equal, you'll get spanked in a new GS-R. They are VERY competent, capable cars on a road coarse; despite what some may deny. I'll probably make a last generation GS-R my next Acura.
Dude, you own a friggin Porsche. Go ENJOY it! Drive it often and drive it as hard as you want. Take the time and efforts you'd put into beating ******** and put them in at a DE instead. Strip some weighty parts off your car. Buy some better shocks and a strut brace. Wax it. Love it. Later.

I have a personal hatred for the integra 80% of the modifed ones I see are .
A. Beat up very badly makeing all there mods worthless when you see it burning coolant/oil.
B. Driven by someone that has no reason to own a car and when they try to run with you in back roads all you hear is grinding/Revlimiter..
C. Turbo's and then they are to fast and usually way to much money has been spent on them.

We have a 98 GSR with DC intake, exhaust, header, sport spring/shocks, sp9000's. Off the line I pulled on a stock Type R. (I realize this means nothing, as we were pretty close and it was prob all driver) The thing does pull pretty well in 2nd and 3rd. I would say its no contest that it will walk a n/a and would prob edge a 944S.
Turbo or S2? Dont think so...

X 944 X - My two son's are into Hondas. My older son has a 90 Integra that he did a V-Tec conversion on. It runs 14.4 in the 1/4 on street tires. My younger son has an 89 Civic with a b16 V-Tec. It runs 14 flat on street tires. Choose your fights wisely and do it on the track.

Isn't it 70% driver / 30% car? If you know how to drive really well, you should..... and by the sound of it, he doesn't sound like a good driver, spank him pretty well on a twisty road.
If you don't think you have the driving skills necessary, go do some DE, and if you're still interested, learn how to beat this guy at the next autocross.
